Turnbull can be described as a husband and wife duo with a dynamic modern acoustic worship style. They performed together in the early '90's as
members of a Christian band in Central Ohio. The band members moved on
to other ministries after more than three years together, but John and
Julie, married during their years in the band, continued writing and performing. Signed in
spring of 2001 to True
Tunes/Rhythm House Records, they've also worked with organizations such as Youth With A
Mission, Campus Crusade for Christ, Great Commission Ministries, Fellowship of Christian Athletes,
Teen Challenge, Encounter Crusades, Adventures
in Missions, and YUGO Ministries, as well as a variety of denominational
groups and churches. John
and Julie feel that their purpose, in their lives and ministry, is to draw people into His presence through
worship, testimony, teaching, and example; to challenge the body to a
more passionate walk of faith; to encourage the body in that God loves
us through the doubts, difficulties and failures as well as the
successes... to
take their life experiences and share them with people. Their latest CD,
We Will Fly, is a nine-song worship CD with eight original
songs. Recorded in winter 2003, it is a collection of worship
songs written throughout the summer of 2002, with four songs that were
developed, created and performed by working with youth at an
impromptu " worship workshop" during a camp. We Will
Fly is also one part of a Worship Resource Kit that the Turnbull's
have put together to provide to churches free of charge. (For more
information on the Worship Resource Kit, click here.)
They also have three other previously released CD's: I
Want You Here was released in February,
2002 on Rhythmhouse/True Tunes
Records. It is a combination of their two independent
releases: self-titled debut, turnbull, (July 1998) and their second CD project, Here,
(May 2000). All of their projects have been produced by Rick May, (drummer for DC Talk),
and both of their independent releases
have caught the attention of four major Christian music magazines, Cross
Rhythms (November 2002), Worship
Leader (May 2002), CCM (Nov. 2000 & Aug. 1998) and Release
(June/July 1999). Their music has received airplay on stations
across the nation and in eight other countries, with five songs showing
up on the WITR-FM Independent Chart... two in the top ten. Click on the cover to read reviews:
